Singapore Zoological Garden

22nd February 2009

Am having a date with wifey today to the Singapore Zoological Garden. It has been a long time since wifey visited the zoo and it has been an even longer time for me since my last visit two decades ago. Since wifey was nagging a few days back that I have never dated him to such places, I guess it would be a romantic day to visit the zoo today.

We met early in the morning at Ang Mo Kio. There is a direct bus to the zoo from there. Before we took the bus, we head to Subway for breakfast. The initial plan is to eat at Café Cartel but wifey got it mixed up. There is no Café Cartel, it was New York New York instead. After having our breakfast at Subway we proceed to take the bus to the zoo. It was not crowded and the trip was faster than we expected. By around 1030, we had arrived at the zoo.

In no time, we bought the tickets and went inside. We did not buy the tram tickets as we had planned to walk all the way. We were both excited as it has been such a long time and wifey had always wanted to come to the zoo again. We took our time to walk slowly and enjoy the scenery, as well as the animals. Most of the animals are sleeping in the afternoon, something both me and wifey envy.

We did not catch any feeding time show as we will have to wait a long time. Instead, we went for animal show instead and managed to catch two of the shows. One of them featured the performance of a very intelligent seal. The seal knows how to balance ball on his nose, knows how to clap his flippers and how to impress the audience watching him.

The other show we managed to watch aims to educate audience to protect the nature and the animals. A variety of animals performed together to form a short yet entertaining story. At the end of this show, wifey also managed to take a few pictures of cute fluffy ducks waddling in the water.

One of the animals, or should I say reptile… that catches our attention is the alligator. It is really long in length and huge in size. Most important, the bite-force of the alligator is the strongest amongst other ferocious animals such as shark, bear, wolf, lion and tiger. Seeing the big and terrifying creature swim in the water really gives us a chilling feeling.

We spent about 3 hours plus at the zoo and when it was time to go back, the weather started to drizzle. We continued our way to the bus stop and took the bus back to Ang Mo Kio. We managed to catch a movie before we head for Chinatown.

We went Chinatown because the last time we made-love in Hotel 81, I left the lubricant there accidentally. So now we are heading to Chinatown, Sportsmanasia to buy a new bottle of lube. After that we head back to Tampines. After I sent wifey home, I went back to rest. It was a really happy day to spend time with wifey without any disturbance (phone calls, sms etc)
